Readathon Update #1

I just spent the last two hours reading Bleak House, and I made it through fifty pages. I also checked how far behind I am on Amanda's blog: everyone will be on page 816 and posting about that section on Wednesday; I am on page 181 *hangs head in shame* So it looks like regardless of how much I read in Bleak House today, I will still be ridiculously behind.

On a brighter note, I got to the part where we meet the "dark young man" who turns out to be a compassionate surgeon (which, in Dickens' time, was basically a doctor). I already know what happens to this particular character, and I was quite happy to see him enter the story.

Here are my stats so far:
Books finished: 1
Total pages read: 101
Total time spent reading: 3 hours

Cheers to all!

You're brave to attempt Bleak House for the Readathon! I'm on like hour 3 of 30 of the audio...yeah, that took me 3 weeks, too!

Wow.. Bleak House isn't exactly 'light reading'! I read it over the summer and had a beast of a time convincing myself to sit down with it for any extended period of time. Best of luck today!

I echo Ronnica's thoughts - that's a pretty heavy book to be reading for readathon. Hope you are having fun with it!

Thanks, guys! I'm alternating Bleak House with Harry Potter. I signed up for the readalong at the Zen Leaf and promptly fell dreadfully behind! I know that I probably only have a few more Bleak House hours left in me; I will definitely be switching to lighter fair as the sun goes down!

If it makes you feel any better, I just past page 425 in Bleak House :-) We can straggle along together.... I fully expect it to take me the rest of the year!

Oh good, JoAnn. Maybe we can form a delinquient Bleak House readalong! I would totally be up to trying to do a modified reading schedule if you are interested!
